(Published in The Norman Transcript June 19, 21, 25, 28, 2015, 4t) Public Meeting – Lake Thunderbird Total Maximum Daily Load Compliance and Monitoring Plan The City of Norman is conducting a public meeting on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 6:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 201-A West Gray Street, to provide information and obtain input regarding the Lake Thunderbird Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Compliance and Monitoring Plan.  At 6:30 p.m., city staff and representatives will be available to discuss the TMDL with citizens on a one-on-one basis.  At 7 p.m., a brief presentation of the City’s draft Lake Thunderbird TMDL Compliance and Monitoring Plan will be provided.  General questions will be taken following the presentation.  In November 2013, the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) finalized a TMDL study and report for Lake Thunderbird that determined the limits of pollution (total suspended solids, chlorophyll-a, nitrogen and phosphorus) the lake could receive without violating water quality standards. The study results concluded that compliance and monitoring plans should be developed to determine best management practices designed to reduce pollutants in the next 20 years and show sustained progress toward reduction in daily amounts of total pollutants entering Lake Thunderbird. In September 2014, the City of Norman hired Olsson and Associates to develop Compliance and Monitoring Plans in accordance with ODEQ requirements published in the Lake Thunderbird TMDL report. The TMDL compliance and implementation plans are scheduled to be complete in 2015. For more information about the TMDL or the meeting, contact Mr. Joe Willingham, Project Manager, at 366-5455 or  Joe.Willingham@NormanOK.gov.  Those needing special accommodations are asked to call at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
